The High Court Co-operative Society Ltd.

The High Court Co-Operative Society Limited began its journey on the 12th of January,1927 and was registered under the Act II of 1912. Initially it functioned as a Society primarily for advancing loans and other pecuniary facilities to the staff of the Hon'ble High Court at Calcutta to help them meet their financial needs and to help them in acquiring lands, and/or other properties. Later, this Society was registered under the Bengal Co-Operative Societies Act, 1940 with its registered office at High Court Building and still operates under the West Bengal Co-operative Society get 2006 & rules 2011. The Society is run by a Board of Directors who are elected from amongst the members of the Appellate Side, Original Side and Other Offices of the Hon'ble High Court.

Consequent upon the different amendment of the Co-Operative Societies Act the High Court Co-Operative Society has witnessed immense changes in its structure, way of election of directors and in its objetives. Initially what started as an institution whose primary business was helping its members with loans and advances the Society metamorphosised into becoming a body which boasted of Holiday Homes at various tourist destination and also indulged in welfare activities of its members like providing them funds at the time of retirement, accident and death.

Today the Society is located at the 6th floor of New Secretariat Builidng at Kiran Shankar Roy Road with full time employees at its roll and standing tall at the side of its members to help them financially whenever the need arises.
